yes, unveil is a reverberator. one of them. but it is also a general purpose sound effect processor, and as such, it can be used to manipulate any audio source, either for creative effect or for more prosaic purposes such as enhancing dialog or acting as a midi transpose for your keyboard. for that, it can be used in a much more hands-on manner, making it a good candidate for live sound use, or as a set of pre- or post-production tools, and like any other sound effect processor, can be used as a set of parameters to automate the process. so – you could use it as a mono or stereo ring modulation effect, automate its width or delay, or use it to insert a reverb effect with a simple script, or as a reverb effect on a master bus, to process dialog and music alike.
unveil is a tool that will make your life easier if you use it correctly, or if you pair it with the right knowledge. either way, it’s a good idea to know what it can do, and how it works, and to use it wisely.
unveil allows you to take control of your choice of reverb -starting with the original reverb sound, going up to a much deeper and more authentic sounding ambiance and finally to the post-produced, slapback, hard-edged reverb. within the parameters of the unveil plug-in’s dynamic range, you will be able to dial in the desired level of reverb. the output volume of the unveil plug-in is linear and independent of the input, meaning that the output signal is always at the same level.
you can mute any part of the input signal to suppress the reverb effect and get a more natural sound. this is especially useful for dialog or other sections of the signal that are already inaudible. unveil also allows you to attenuate (soften) specific reverb components of a signal, allowing you to fine-tune the desired ambiance while retaining natural characteristics.

the last parameter you’ll find on unveil’s interface is labeled crossover, and it’s not just there to keep the two of you in the friendliest of relationships. this controls the frequency at which the frequencies are split apart from one another. this value is always the same for all sounds, so you’ll never have to worry about adjusting it. high values on the crossover frequency will ensure that you don’t have to worry about any frequencies bleeding through one another, and low values will ensure that the frequencies stay separate, but don’t sound muddy or dull.
after applying these settings, it’s time to add a little fun to the mix. zynaptiq unveil has two nifty features that can change up the way you hear a track. one is called focus, and the other is called echo. focus is basically an echo-like control, and it allows you to add a little fx to a track, just like you would on a classic tape machine or looping recorder. to create this effect, simply hold down the spacebar while you’re adjusting the parameters of a track, and unveil will place a little looping signal in the channel for you. once you’ve created your loop, simply release the spacebar to remove it.
zynaptiq unveil also includes a feature called echo, which is a little like a cross between the focus and delay controls. in essence, it creates the effect of taking a short sample and repeating it endlessly. the problem is, the loop is always limited to a short sample length, and it’s not easy to control how long it is. to create the effect, hold down the spacebar while you’re adjusting the parameters of a track, then choose the echo option in the parameter list, and unveil will create a loop for you. once you’ve done that, press the spacebar again to remove the loop.
