The Code of the Savage is a collection of 54 short stories about John Carter of Mars by American pulp-fiction writer Edgar Rice Burroughs. It was first published in book form in 1923 by A.C. McClurg and Company as The Code of the Mars Men. The collection was also published in 1919 as Martian Rites and in 1927 as Scarabazel (named after the narrator’s home planet and its hero, “Zeta Green-pea”).
