When we first announced the project on Kickstarter, we said we’d be able to develop a scene from Half-Life: 2 in 4 months, using the time we’d raise to finish the movie and pay our cast and crew. But with all the excitement, we’ve managed to outrun ourselves.

We’re shooting our movie now, and it will take us a little longer to make our deadline than originally planned. However, with a bigger budget than we expected we’ll still be able to make the movie we want to make.

Our schedule

The cast and crew working on Half-Life: 2 have been busy preparing for months. Now they’re finally getting to work, and we’re ready to start filming.

We’ll be filming the entire movie in Steam’s Source engine using all the tools we developed for the Source engine. And because the Source engine is open source, anyone can use it. (Unless you’re developing a game for the Oculus Rift, we’re sure. We’ll ask nicely.)

Because of the time it takes to set up the Source engine environment, we’ll be filming over the course of two weeks.

The Half-Life: 2 script

The first scene we’re filming is a little more than 10 minutes long, and it’s almost done. But we’re not finished! We’ll be adding more scenes and finishing the script as we go.
