The next version will be much more complete. There will be a gui uie console, that will be able to display messages in a better way.
The reason foobar2000 is so old is not the fault of the developer but a decision from the creators of foobar2000 – and it’s not my decision either – so for me, I don’t have a choice… I have to develop that software so they will have the new features in the next version.
This means that I need a lot of support, if you find bugs in the gui uie console, please report them.
Please note that there is a working 2.0 beta that you can try.

What is the status of the Foobar2000 UI Editor? Is it in alpha stage or a beta stage? It looks like a great tool. I use it in Linux with VLC media player. Is there support for editing tags in iTunes under Linux? Is it supported by Foobar2000 under Linux?

I was looking for an alternative to iTunes tagging for my MP3 player (Lifeproof with RMX media) and found foobar2000.
I’d love to find an alternative because the iTunes tags are all messed up. I find the tags in foobar2000 to be very confusing and difficult to decipher.
So…
1. Is it an acceptable tagging alternative?
2. Any tips on how to improve the tagging?
3. Is there a way to embed the iTunes tag information into foobar2000?

It is a great and beautiful tool, I haven’t used it much as yet, but so far so good.
Although, there seems to be some known issues, perhaps the plugin author will be able to provide some details on why some of the defaults aren’t right.
A “disable new window” option for the default search seems like a good idea, but should be applied to newly opened search windows?
With the default setting it creates an extra sub window and adds it to a message window. I would assume that is desirable when searching from a list. If that is the case, then a “new window only” option would work better.
It seems that searching in the file manager with details will cause a window to pop up saying “searching” even if no files are being searched, in which case it seems like a right click option would be better.
These issues need to be addressed, and maybe some minor tweaks. I’ve been using it for a few weeks, and it seems very stable and useful. I know they have been busy with other things lately so they don’t seem to be on the pulse on these kinds of feedback.
At any rate, it is a nice product, and I am definitely going to use it. Thanks.
