## The Integrated Image Editor

The Integrated Image Editor (available in the **Edit** menu) provides many of the same features that you can get out of using the **Image** menu and from the Adjustments dialog. It also gives you a place to browse images from your computer, view and tag images, and even email them. The Image Editor is all part of Photoshop and is tightly integrated with Photoshop. ## The Layer Panel

The Layers Panel, located on the left side of the window, contains the palettes shown in Figure 2-12. Each palette is a collection of tools for opening, managing, and adding, removing, and transforming layers. The properties of layers are also in this panel. It is possible to customize how layers behave within Photoshop’s layers palette and properties window.

The Layers palette is visible only when you work with layers; you must create layers in order to use the palette.

How to Create a Rolling Shutter Effect with Photoshop Elements

Step 1

In order to apply a rolling shutter effect to your image, you need to open it in Photoshop Elements.

Open your photo and import it as a layered file or as a jpeg or.psd file.

Step 2

From the Filters panel click the Blur Gallery icon.

Click the Filter List to access the Blur Gallery.

This is the Blur Gallery window. Use this tool to add some useful images for your photos.

Step 3

Click the filter you want to use on your image. In this case, you will apply the Rolling Shutter.

After a few seconds the Blur Gallery window will load the image you’ve chosen.

From the bottom right side of the Blur Gallery window, click the Settings button.

You will be prompted to select your rolling shutter technique.

For this tutorial, select the lens blur technique.

To create the effect, I’ve chosen a simple circular mask in the center of my photo.

After selecting a technique, the Blur Gallery window will open a blank canvas.

Is there a way to change the icon in the tab bar of my iPhone application in Xcode?

A:

If you use a TabsViewController, you’ll have to do this manually (not using Interface Builder to declare the “cell” at runtime).
If you want to change the tab bar icon, you’ll have to create your own TabBarController subclass, and use Interface Builder to wire up the ViewControllers.
If you want to use Interface Builder to declare a view controller at runtime and then change its icon, you can do that too, but it’s probably not worth the effort.

A:

The tab bar icon property is an image property and can’t be set in the xib file.
The only way to change this for a tab bar is to subclass the tab bar controller and override the tab icon method and implement it with a different image.
The only reason you might have to do this in this situation is if you have done the following:

Created your tab bar in xib editor
Added a new view controller
Used the “Add Missing Constraints” button to fix whatever the issue was

You can use the appearance proxy to create a new UITabBarController that is one that you have created programatically (and looking like you created it programatically). However, it should be noted that the appearance proxy is a static way to set these things up. There is a related post where they suggest using this method to create a custom UITabBarController.
