to assist people in finding practitioners who employ cayce methods, a.r.e. publishes a directory listing hundreds of practitioners in its current publication, vedic oracle. readers can order the directory by calling 800-888-8300. each directory lists the practitioner’s address, phone, fax, and web address, the services offered, and the fees for consults, trainings, or study groups. about a half dozen phone consultations are charged at a rate of $20 for thirty minutes. six read-alongs are $50 for thirty minutes each. a study group devoted to karmic astrology is $25 for four-hour sessions once a month, with the price being discounted if paid in four installments. the web site http://www.cayces.com/faq.html lists some thousand practitioners in north america, europe, asia, and south america. the web page is set up for those who do not wish to contact individual practitioners, who have organized themselves into study groups, and who wish to pay by credit card instead of by check. credit card payments for book and cd-rom subscriptions have allowed for larger readerships.

after i had been a paying member for about a year, on august 14, 1994, i received a letter from roy dirks, a.r.e.s information manager, about a.s plans for this high-priority project. they were going to publish the english portion of the readings on two hard-bound books, a third volume of the readings would be in spanish, and the audio tapes would be on two cd-roms. standard size hard-bound volumes had been published in the past, but volumes in two sizes have been unavailable since 1911, when the readers were bound in twelve volumes, making the original volumes too big to be conveniently stored. a.s choice of such large books arose from the desire to include as many documents as possible, and the dilemma of where to stack them. ten of the cayce’s original twelve volumes are kept at the edgar cayce association, and ten of the two-volume set of twelve volumes are at boston university library. the five remaining volumes have been stored in the basement of the cayce-evans house museum in virginia beach, but have not been carefully preserved and are now stored in several boxes.s archivist, valerie moser, is now mailing me three-inch-thick cardboard backing to repair the books and keep them in good condition.
