STEP 1: Start AutoCAD

In this tutorial, we will use the AutoCAD software program to create a basic drawing of a to-scale ruler, called a profile drawing.

If you want to use the software program on your own computer, start AutoCAD by clicking on the Start menu, and then clicking on AutoCAD 2019, or AutoCAD 2018 for some users. To download or start the program, click on the Program Files (x86) or Program Files directory, and then double-click on AutoCAD.exe.

The user manual can be opened by clicking on the Help menu. To open the user manual, click on the Welcome to AutoCAD button on the Help menu.

Or you can use the AutoCAD command “AutoCAD Help” to open the user manual.

STEP 2: Open the user manual

Double-click on the file AutoCAD.User on your desktop to open the user manual.

Click on the Help menu to access the help system, or click on the Online Help button on the command toolbar to open the AutoCAD help system.

You may find the AutoCAD help system difficult to use without the software program. However, the tutorials are available online, and you may find the tutorials easy to understand.

In AutoCAD, the user manual is contained in the user manual subdirectory of the AutoCAD installation directory. You may also be able to find AutoCAD help online at the Autodesk website.

STEP 3: Open the user manual

Open the user manual file by double-clicking on the file AutoCAD.User.

You may find the user manual online, or you may find help with the user manual at the Autodesk website.

STEP 4: Navigate to a user manual page

Double-click on a page number to open that page.

Alternatively, you can click on the Help menu to access the help system, or click on the Online Help button on the command toolbar to open the AutoCAD help system.

Run and save the license on your computer.

Brain tumor patients share their fears, thoughts, and feelings with each other through a virtual reality robot named “Buddy” that helps them talk to each other.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota developed “Buddy” which patients use for “massage therapy,” by mirroring their facial expressions and speech to show empathy. This virtual reality robot comes after researchers reported a four-fold increase in depression and anxiety among brain tumor patients after completing a common brain surgery. The robot helps patients to communicate with each other during hospital stays as well as after the surgery.

“The research behind this work was done to understand the impact that a brain tumor has on people’s lives, and this gave us a better understanding of how a brain tumor can have a negative impact,” says Dr. Ayaz Mahmud, a plastic surgeon and project leader for Buddy. “But what we learned was really surprising. When you approach this project, you can’t help but see the potential for the future and what this could mean.”

Every year, nearly 150,000 people are diagnosed with brain cancer. Brain tumor surgery is the most common neurosurgical procedure performed in the US and in Sweden, where about 1 in 4 adults have a brain tumor.

“It’s a cognitive process,” Mahmud says, “because the brain has the ability to accept and not accept.”

The brain is also largely a nonverbal organ, and if the tumor grows quickly, patients can’t tell the doctor how they’re feeling. The robot was designed to address this problem.

Track Annotations with Selection

User-defined selection helps you track annotations to the drawing. When you select an annotation, you will see a small crosshairs on the annotation in the drawing. When you click on the annotation, you will add the annotation to the current selection.

You can then either continue to select another annotation, or you can choose to add all annotations in the selection to the drawing.

Update the Drawing Position during a move or rotation.
