At first, I was quite disappointed with The New Fantasy Action RPG. The story was just too simplified, the combat too simplistic and the skill tree too restricted. When I began playing the game a few days ago, however, something magical happened; I began to feel the freedom of doing as I wished, unlocking features as I wanted and finding meaning in the game.

This is the most immersive and action-packed RPG I’ve played in a long time. It’s a breath of fresh air from a genre that has become quite stale. You want to fire a spell at your enemies? You can, and you can spend a few minutes doing it. Want to level up? You can, and you can spend an hour or more doing so. The consequences of your actions are enormous, and if you’re an experienced player, you’ll know that they can’t all be solved by pressing the right button for a few seconds.

The added dynamics of exploration and customization also help create a sense of uncertainty and innovation that was absent in other RPGs. I can’t think of any other RPG that is as similar to a traditional adventure game as The New Fantasy Action RPG. You wake up in a dungeon and have to find your way out of there. You enter new areas in the world and try to get past them as quickly as possible. You can eventually find better equipment, more spells or other more powerful items that will change your character. All of this is illustrated by the character artwork.

The most captivating aspect of this game is that you don’t just watch a simple text story and play. You’re encouraged to explore the environment and discover the world around you, which means the experience gets deeper and more fun. You’re not just a tank with a sword that runs into fights. You’re a kind of demi-god that can cast magic, defeat monsters, and find treasure chests. The way you can interact with the world is also quite unique. For example, you can read the wall messages and talk to people. You can also talk to people in towns. You can get into endless conversations with characters and even visit your friends’ houses.
