In a traditional way of thinking, a character style is a font, and then the character style is applied to an object like text or a symbol. But in Photoshop, you actually put the character on a layer that sits atop other layers so that you can apply it to other objects. A character style is technically a _glyph_ (patterns and symbols that are put together to form a font).

* **Color and Grayscale**. The Color and Grayscale adjustment options let you change the color of an image or the brightness of the color.

* **Filter**. Filter is for refining imagery, such as making it appear either more extreme or slightly blurred.

* **Layers**. The Layers panel is a working area for organizing your photo. You can place and move the layers until they’re where you want them.

* **Paint Bucket**. The Paint Bucket tool lets you apply a color to a photo, or to some parts of a layer. You can choose solid colors or gradients.

* **Pen**. This tool is for creating special effects, such as digital drawing and drawing with varying line widths. The pen tool also works for retouching—that is, softening or sharpening an image.

* **Paths**. In the following sections, I explain this tool and how to use it for transforming artwork.

How to use Photoshop Elements

Open a new image. Make sure the layers are visible and do not overlap. You can copy, paste or drag and drop them.

Use the tools on the right to select and move objects within the image. Click the Tool tab to see all the tools available. Double click and drag to activate the tools.

Create a new image layer. Use the tools on the left to create a new layer. Click Layer > New to make it active and the document active.

Group the layers. You can move multiple layers at the same time by selecting them and dragging them to a new location. Click the “Group Layers” icon to select them.

The first method you can use is to create a layer style by selecting the layer and pressing the L key. The “Layer Style Manager” window opens. Use the + sign to create new styles.

Brushes are useful if you want to apply effects to the image with less mouse movement. To create a brush, use the Brush Tool to create a new brush.

Click the + sign to create a new brush. You can use the Brush Options dialog to change the size, hardness and other features of the brush.

The brush you created is now ready. To apply the brush, press the B key to apply the brush. To select the brush, press the V key. Press the E key to use the brush.

Gradient styles

Gradients are used to create simple images. To create a gradient, use the Gradient Tool and follow the instructions.

To create a new gradient, select the area to create the gradient and press the G key.

To add a new stop, click the “+” icon. To select a color, click the color box on the right. To change the options or remove the gradient, click the gradient bar on the right.

The shape tools can be used to create different shapes within the image. Select the tool you want to use.

The new shape is now ready. You can place it within the image. You can also place other shapes over it. To move the shape, use the icons above the

1. Field of the Invention
This invention pertains in general to the field of multidimensional data mining, and more particularly to a method and system for visualizing high-dimensional data in a multidimensional grid.
2. Description of the Related Art
Data mining, especially high-dimensional data mining, is a process of identifying interesting or useful patterns in multidimensional data sets. High-dimensional data refers to data having a large number of independent variables. In particular, a data set can be high-dimensional when it has at least three dimensions. For example, a data set having both two-dimensional (i.e., two dimensions) and one-dimensional (i.e., one dimension) variables can be considered to have a high-dimensional structure.
In some cases, such as when the data set is available only as a collection of entries in an array, the data set is referred to as high-dimensional since the number of independent variables exceeds the number of observations (e.g., the number of entries in the array). In other cases, the data set may be high-dimensional since the number of dimensions in the data set exceeds the number of independent variables. In such cases, the variables in the data set are more appropriately called “dependent variables”.
Multidimensional data can be represented in a number of different formats. One common representation is a “grid”. A grid is a two-dimensional array of entries in which the rows contain the independent variables and the columns contain the dependent variables. An example two-dimensional data set in a grid format is given in Table 1.
