i took the rescue diver intermediate b course with my diving buddy joe, who also taught the course. course b is a lot of fun and it really tests your skills as a diver. course b is broken into 5 sections. the first two sections are very basic and the other three are intermediate level. the two basic sections, section 1 and section 2, are very similar. this is where you learn how to develop your personal scuba gear and how to dive safely. at the end of section 1 you get to practice some skills in a pool or in open water. this section is important and it teaches you some key skills that will be useful in the more technical courses in the program. it will also teach you how to dive in open water and how to get comfortable in the water. during section 1 you learn how to operate your scuba gear and how to deal with emergencies in open water. (much of what you learned in the rescue diver intermediate a course is covered in section 1.)
section 2 is the most technical course in the program. this is where you learn to develop your skills as a diver. section 2 is broken into 2 sections. section 2-1 is for your first basic open water dive. youll learn to dive in open water, develop your skills as a diver and start to work on your skills as a diver. at the end of this section you get to practice some new skills, like learning how to operate your gear in open water and how to dive in the shallows of a bay. during this section you learn to develop your skills as a diver. during this section you also get to learn some new skills like the importance of handling emergencies in open water, how to properly fit a personal scuba tank and how to effectively search for missing divers in open water. youll also learn to develop your skills as a diver and become more comfortable in open water. the skills you learn in this section are essential to the more advanced courses in the program. during this section you also develop your self-rescue skills. you learn to handle emergencies in open water and how to effectively use your gear to help you.
the padi rescue diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. during rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills.
there are many dive programs available to padi members. some are specialized courses for recreational divers, others are for recreational and professional divers and of course the rescue diver course is for recreational divers who want to take this course to learn how to deal with emergencies and how to be prepared.
the rescue diver course is the first training course that teaches you the fundamentals of scuba diving. the rescue diver course is separated into 5 sections. the first two sections are beginner level and the other three are intermediate level. the intermediate sections are broken into two more courses, rescue diver intermediate a and b. course a is the prerequisite for rescue diver intermediate b. ive only had the opportunity to complete rescue diver intermediate b. (courses a and b take about a week each and are the most technical courses in the padi training program.)
course a is the prerequisite course for rescue diver intermediate b. in course a you learn how to setup the breathing system, how to handle emergencies and the importance of self-rescue. during this course you learn how to properly assemble your personal scuba gear and how to get the most out of your gear. course a will cover all the key components to equip yourself for any situation. the theory taught in this course is almost as important as the skills taught in the more advanced rescue diver intermediate b course. the gear we use as instructors is the same gear we use in the classroom and this course teaches us the importance of taking your gear on and off and how to make sure you have the necessary tools to handle any situation you may encounter.
