What is Adobe Photoshop? Adobe Photoshop is a photo-editing program that allows you to edit files in a variety of different ways. You can crop, resize, re-saturate, and enhance the colors of a photo or image. The program comes with a large array of tools that allow you to apply effects to photos quickly. It can even convert scanned documents into a variety of image formats, such as.eps,.tif, and.tiff. Adobe Photoshop is a popular program for amateur and professional photographers, graphic designers, and web developers.
As can be seen from the “Fujifilm X-Trans RAW Conversion” section of this review, there’s still a lot of room for improvement. That’s not to say that results are very bad, but the slight painted-on effect is still present if you examine images very closely. Fujifilm’s bundled RAW converter based on Silkypix does a much better job. I have no doubt in my mind that Adobe will eventually nail the rendering of X-Trans sensor RAW files. However, I find it strange that Fujifilm seemingly hasn’t been helping them out. Let’s face it, Silkypix may be good – I personally don’t have much experience with it. But Lightroom is more popular and will most likely remain so. Fujifilm would do themselves a favor by helping Adobe perfect the necessary algorithms.
I believe it should be stated that Lightroom is good (and according to the latest beta update, to be excellent in 2021), but has a somewhat different flavor than Photoshop. The software is quite refined but offers few unique capabilities. The menus are straight forward and easy to navigate, but lots of buttons are grouped together. Buttons you would expect are easy to reach with your mouse, such as button to send a JPEG to an email address or button to save a tiff as a PDF.
Unfortunately, some of Photoshop’s most unique features are found in the hidden, levels and curves panels. These functions are essential for cropping photographs, retouching, and removing dust spots. Unfortunately, getting to these functions takes a lot of scrolling. However, once you do get there, it’s like having two tools in one. Without these functions, it would be a picture grab here, a pixel grab there, and a touch up of the edges here and there – but it would be nowhere near creating the elegant and beautiful images you see in magazines and on the Internet.
With Android devices on iPhones and iPads, Adobe Photoshop Camera brings many of your mobile editing calibur to your screen. By default, your camera roll is selected. By tapping on the image, you are able to choose to upload the photo to your own albums, or share it to the cloud with friends and family using social networks and email.
