the first dragon series was underwhelming but the second and third are incredible. the second film in particular shows how, with a little more imagination, hollywood could be making some amazing martial arts movies.

from a western point of view this film has all the action of a more western-style martial arts movie, which is not a bad thing. the story is pretty predictable but it does have some good comic moments. the whole storyline does feel a little like a cult follow story though, as much of the film is about the different people that chen zilong interacts with and the different school of martial arts that he trains in. the film is supposed to be about him finding the one true path to martial arts though and ends up being a whole bunch of different things. the film doesn t really explore any one of them too much and chen zilong ends up being a bit of a cartoon character that is constantly making kids laugh. the performances by the lead cast are good, especially the villain, but the humour really comes across as forced, particularly from danson s character. overall this is a fun film and worth watching for some great action, but the problem is that it doesn t really do anything original.

a bland action film that is surprisingly bad. the action scenes are not very well directed or choreographed, the fights are poorly staged and the story line is dull. however there is a few decent action sequences with some good fight scenes. overall the film is lacking, with scenes looking like they were copied from another movie, one is even lifted from ip man 3. the story is not very original either and is done very badly.

the film is a bit more graphic than the donnie yen films. i.e. killing storm, donnie yen. killing storm is more violent. the first 10 minutes of this film is just brutal. i was not expecting this much blood and it was all intentional. all in all this is a decent martial arts film. the action is pretty good. i liked the throw-down at the start. most of the fight scenes are not overly exciting and the ending was a let down. but i will see it again. i enjoyed the fact that it was more violent.
