2) This is not related to 1080p videos. Instead this is related to using 1080p IDX/SUB subtitles. Blu-rays use 1080p PGS subtitles which work fine. IDX/SUB subtitles are actually the standard subtitle format for DVDs. In their standard format (480p) they play fine. If the user has them in 1080p IDX/SUB format the subtitles will not appear

If I know the Answers to the following in advance I don’t have to worry about the unit freezing up on me for no reason at all. If I know them in advance I am able to troubleshoot before I start to show home DVD movies to friends and family. Recently I have shared some 3D films to friends and they all work fine. But unfortunately my old Blu-ray 3D disc had some problems. When I looked at the disc there was a blue Eject button if you touched it in one area of the disc and it ejected. I checked the disc every now and then but when it worked fine for a while then it would break up.

The first one I checked was not in any way shape or form a BD-J title. I don’t know if it’s a BD-J? If it is a BD-J I didn’t buy the movie, it was a freebie? It was just a normal disc that had “frozen” I played it on a regular DVD drive and it played fine. But the next one that I bought was a BD-J and it froze up almost immediately. After giving it overnight to sit and idling my PC on low, starting it back up and watching it still had problems. It wouldn’t play at all. So obviously the PC was the problem and not the disc. I then compared my copy of the disc to an original copy of the disc bought from Amazon. In my case it had only been played for maybe 20 minutes so I apparently had a bad rip. I then bought a cheap, $35 disc from Walmart (the same title, HDPVR xMB300). It froze at the exact same moment. I opened it up with my BD-J tool used to fix all sorts of BD issues and it was good to go.
